VAIN REPETITIOUS PRAYER ?

IN DEFENSE OF THE ROSARY
                             Contributed By Barbara J. Armstrong

In the world that we live in today it is time to get back to the basics.   The
greatest prayer on earth is the Mass where we are outside of time and space,
where we enter into the one only Sacrifice and Resurrection.   Because
yesterday, today and tomorrow are always and forever the present for Our Lord
so the one only Sacrifice is happening when we are at Mass, we are transported
outside of time and space, to the Last Supper, to Calvary, to the Resurrection.
We are actually there with Mary, the Apostles and our fellow brothers and sisters
in Christ.  It is good to think about this on our way to Mass so as to take an
active part in the most awesome miracle of Love for us.
The next greatest prayer is The Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin
Mary.   People have asked me many times what those beads are; Or why do you
Catholics just repeat words over and over with those beads.?  My answer is, "I
am praying the Gospels."  Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you LUKE 1:
28;  blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb LUKE
1:42;  Holy Mary, mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our
death.  I am also meditating on the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord.
Also, I am asking our blessed Mother to pray for me, now and at the hour of my
death.  You see the rosary is plain and simple;  Christ centered. Pope John Paul
II said {“To recite the rosary is nothing other than to contemplate the face of
Christ with Maryâ€}  When we pray the rosary Mary actually and really and
truly takes us by the hand to her Son Jesus.  Mary is Christ centered.  To prove
that point,  at the Wedding Feast at Cana, Mary noticed that the wine was
running out.  Turning to her Son for help, she opened the eyes of His disciples
and the servants as to who Jesus really was, and then told them to, "DO
WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU."
We also see Mary proclaiming the
greatness of the Lord in Luke 1:46-55, where all generations will call her
"BLESSED!" (verse 48)

As I said in the beginning, I am praying the Gospels, the Bible and much more.

WOULD YOU CALL THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURE
"VAIN REPETITIOUS PRAYERS?"

                                    MATTHEW 26
36
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his
disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
37
He took along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to feel sorrow and
distress.
38
Then he said to them, "My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and
keep watch with me."
39
He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer, saying, "My Father, if it is
possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will."
40
When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, "So
you could not keep watch with me for one hour?
41
Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the
flesh is weak."
42
Withdrawing a second time, he prayed again, "My Father, if it is not possible that
this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done!"
43
Then he returned once more and found them asleep, for they could not keep
their eyes open.
44
He left them and withdrew again
and prayed a third time, saying the same
thing again.

REVELATION 4
9
Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who
sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
10
the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who sits on the throne and
worship him, who lives forever and ever. They throw down their crowns before
the throne, exclaiming:
11
"Worthy are you, Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you
created all things; because of your will they came to be and were created."

Chapter 19
1
After this I heard what sounded like the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven,
saying: "
Alleluia! Salvation, glory, and might belong to our God,
2
for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great harlot who
corrupted the earth with her harlotry. He has avenged on her the blood of his
servants."
3
They said a second time: "
Alleluia! Smoke will rise from her forever and ever."
4
The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped
God who sat on the throne, saying, "Amen.
Alleluia."
5
A voice coming from the throne said: "Praise our God, all you his servants, (and)
you who revere him, small and great."
6
Then I heard something like the sound of a great multitude or the sound of
rushing water or mighty peals of thunder, as they said: "
Alleluia! The Lord has
established his reign, (our) God, the almighty.
7
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory. For the wedding day of the Lamb
has come, his bride has made herself ready.
8
She was allowed to wear a bright, clean linen garment." (The linen represents the
righteous deeds of the holy ones.)

The term,
"Whenever,"  as it
is used in this
verse, signifies
"Repetition!"
Is this vain repetitious
prayer?
Three times, Jesus
prays the same prayer!
Angels repeat
prayers, but
they are not
vain!
